So, when I least expected it. . .

The county called and gave us a foster placement! Little A. is two-years-old, big and strong for his age. And he's also cute as a button. Things were a little crazy around here last night, especially since he was homesick for his parents and confused about who exactly we are. Hopefully, it will get better. During the day, we are having a marvelous time. I'm not going to post full-face pictures of him online just now, but here he is otherwise!

He really liked this puzzle. He did it like 15 times until he could get it right almost every time.

And he really loves water. I pulled up the step stool for him and let him play in the dishwater (don't worry, it was pretty clean). He could pour water from one cup to another for hours. He has great powers of concentration when he plays–more than in any other kid I've seen. He just turned two in May, and he can really entertain himself and is VERY busy!

Who knows how long we'll have him here. We knew in our heads that this process could be a heartbreaker, way back when we started. I think, though, that we didn't really understand how risky this is until today.

Love is always a risk. But without it we are godless and the lowest form of humanity. He is so cute and he looks pretty cuddly as well. I’m glad you are open and vulnerable to the needs of the little ones.
    You remind me of Jesus.

Watching my little A. run around the house doing nearly the same things as the little one at your house makes me tremble a little at the enormity of what you and Chad have opened yourselves up to. Love for a child is an almost unmeasurable sensation (both joyous and frightening – as you know). I can only hope that you will have that love returned by this precious child, even in the most imperceptible ways. That love returned is truly a miracle. All our prayers and thoughts are with the three of you on this unknowable journey.

  4. I can just imagine how cute that little face is! He is a very lucky little boy!

Soooo happy for you. It is big, but it is God’s doing–He hand-selected you for this little guy for this time. You have been in my thoughts and prayers almost constantly the past 30 hours. And you’ll stay… Love you!

I can’t think of a better couple to take little A. in and show him the love he needs. All three of you are in my prayers. Remember as he gets to know you all of this will pass.

So sweet! God has a plan and I am so happy little A. gets to be blessed by you and Chad. I am sure he is just so sweet. I keep thinking about how confusing all of this must be for him at only 2 years old. God is in control. Praying for all of you. Live in the moment, enjoy your time with A. You and Chad are an inspiration and show such strength and love!
