A little harvest

I love gardening. I planted my veggies this year with much enjoyment and anticipation, and for a garden that mostly does NOT have full sun, I am happy with the results. My beans are kind of anemic, my squash has been slow, and my tomatoes are small, but plentiful. (Except for the 8ft monster cherry tomato plant that has already taken over the walkway and is going for the driveway next). I have found that I do really well with lettuce, chard, spinach, and herbs (or as my dad would say, the "easy" stuff. thanks dad). So I am going to do a late summer planting of greens and see how we do. Anyways, here is a lovely basket of produce from my garden, which made me happy and giggly.

I saw these on Faoebook and was going to say-“SHow OFF” but I didn’t, because then I would sound bitter and jealous since MY squash is still putting out spindly looking flowers with no resulting squash! I love your basket of garden goodies. And if you like to eat the easy stuff- then that’s what you should grow!

  2. What will you do with the basil? Let me know if you need a good pesto recipe! : D
(Heidi, if your squash is producing only flowers, why don’t you stuff them and deep fry them? Yum! Stuffed squash blossoms. Makes me wish I’d’ve planted some!)

Kim from hiraeth, I LOVE to put chopped fresh basil on a nice, grainy piece of toast with butter and slices of tomato and sometimes a thin slice of mozz or provalone cheese. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper on top. MMMmmmmm! Your bounty looks beautiful, Allyson! This year I only got two zucchini, about 12 beans and some carrots. Something ate the tops off all our beets and the spinach never appeared at all. I’m waiting for my potatoes to grow a little more and then I’m digging in! Enjoy your yummies!
