Aside from the harrowing drive home over ice-slicked roads, we had a great time! This year it was a Chilli Cook-off, which Heidi won. (She's going to post her winning recipe to her blog, www.heidiannie.com soon). And we enjoyed each other as we always do, with much laughter and teasing and joy. And food.
On the way home, Chad and I stopped to help a kid who had crashed in the ditch on 42. Freezing rain was falling from the sky, the roads were covered in icy slush, and we were blasting Christmas carols, enjoying it in a perverse way. Chad is my hero–he always stops to help, even when he gets soaked and doesn't get home until way late. But that's my man!

He’s one of my heroes, too! And so is Frank- I love the way he drives under pressure! Last night was fun- we have a great family!
Nice posts! I haven’t checked in for a few days–great to catch up! And Tuesday was great!
So glad you guys got home ok. I didn’t realize it was so bad. I was also touched by Chad’s desire to stop and help that kid. I’m sure he appreciated it more than he probably verbalized. What a great evening together! Merry Christmas!
