poppin’ corn

We love popcorn. It's almost an obsession. We'd eat it for dinner every day if I let us, but I don't. (WHY don't I??) Chad is our designated popcorn popper, and his skills are considerable. Lately, he's been flavoring the oil with a jalapeno-mesquite mix that is super-yummy! Our usual though, is just tossing a teaspoon of sugar in with the oil and having a nice batch of almost-kettle corn.

  1. Oh, I am a popcorn purist–no butter for me, just salt.
I do love popcorn, but I rarely ever eat it. Now I want some!

Obbessed with popcorn, I am… but I am very curious as to what that contraption that you pop your corn in is…. is that an agitator so it doesn’t burn?
    OOOOOOOOOOOH! Fancy!

The best popcorn is my sister Dianne’s popcorn. From a very young age she exhibited a special gift for making popcorn–the exact right amount of oil and salt, cooked in a kettle on the stove, no seeds, none burned.
Unfortunately, she came to believe that she was being taken advantage of by her older siblings and has hidden her gift “under a bushel” for many years.
One day, I hope to taste her popcorn again…

I want Dianne’s popcorn with Chad’s seasoning!!! Yummy!

Jill, that is a popcorn popping contraption indeed. It goes on the stove like a pot, but it has a crank handle that turns an agitator that mixes the popcorn. We found ours at Target for $20, and it has more than paid for itself.
Ok, Schley girls. At the next Schley party, Dianne has to make popcorn. That’s the rule.

I’ve had Dianne’s popcorn- and it is good. So is Willow’s- always just right! Mine is always slightly burned- but I like burned popcorn- so that’s why!
