New year’s eve

On New Year’s Eve, Chad and I picked Faithy up from her parents’ house and went to Bill & Kathy’s for a par-tay. We had a lot of fun! Many of our friends from church were there too, which added to the fun. Kathy made this fantastic feast for us–it was like magic–as soon as something was gone, *poof*! something new appeared in its place! I think I gained three pounds just from those four or five hours.

2008 Card Club Class

Don’t you wish you had a box full of hand-stamped cards for every occasion? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a baby card ready to send just when you need it? Wouldn’t it be a relief to have a sympathy card on hand? This year, I am focusing on meeting those needs through a monthly card-making club. We will meet once a month and make four themed cards per meeing. What a fun and easy way to amass all the kinds of cards you need throughout the year!

The first class will be held on January 19th, from 1–4:00 PM. This will be a special class. Instead of cards, we will be making a fun tin box to hold our cards.

sorry for the blurriness here. . .

You will get to choose your papers and colors for the box. Cost is $25 for the January class. If you would like a box but are not interested in making one, I will make one for you for $40. Please contact me for details. All other card-club classes will be $10 per set of four cards. You may make more than one set as long as you tell me a week in advance. For the schedule of classes, please contact me, or stay tuned. I will be posting more info in the next few weeks.

If you are interested in attending this class, please RSVP and pre-pay by January 12. After January 12, the price will be $35.00.

Goodbye, 2007. I’m sick of you anyways

I don’t know the last time I’ve been so ready for a new year! It’s not that 2007 was particularly bad or anything. I’m just tired of it, and I’m ready for a fresh start!

I know I’ve been a bad blogger lately. But I’ve been sick with The Horrible Cold and disgruntled to boot. I’ve also been stamping and creating and make Huge Messes in my craft room, a skill at which I excell. Check out my other blog for photos of what I’ve been doing.

Is anyone making resolutions for the new year out there? I’m going to be perfect. That’s mine.

Just kidding. I’m going to stop being a perfectionist. I am resolving to stop wasting so much time on the internet doing nothing. I resolve to walk my poor dog more often, as he is looking a bit tubby. I resolve to walk myself more often as well, as I am also looking a bit tubby. I’m going to send more cards, since I have, like, seven thousand of them on hand. I resolve to get no more zits and to make every day a good hair day. I resolve to stop hating all my clothes. I’m going to stop being irritated when people think I’m 22 years old instead of 32. I resolve to not whine so much on my blogs. I’m going to have more fun and be more productive. I resolve, in short, to be perfect. Oh wait. I said I was going to stop being a perfectionist. I resolve to stop feeling guilty for being a perfectionist.

Happy New Year!

Wow! look at that messy desk!

I just had to post these shots of my messy desk this morning. I’ve been stamping away, preparing for my New Catalog Kick-off Open House on Saturday afternoon. That desk is really something, huh?

By the way, if you would like your own copy of the new catalog for FREE, come to my kick-off this Saturday, January 5, from 1–4 PM. We’ll be making some projects, perusing the new catalog, and checking out some other goodies and surprises I have prepared. Please let me know if you plan to attend!

Sigh of Relief

I had a weird experience this Christmas season. I felt completely different from last year, when I was energetic, enthusiastic, and feeling that Christmas magic. This year? Ho hum. Is it over yet? I can’t figure out the difference, except that it seems to be an every-other-year thing with me. I can’t do the same thing twice in a row. I need space, breathing room. A Break. I’m sick today with a horrible cold, which I have been fighting off for a week. Today, I allowed it to try to kill me, as I lay on the couch ALL DAY with my sad book and my tea. I am ready for the spareness of January, the clean slate of a new year, the quietness of winter. I want to jump back into the normal routine of my every-day life. I want to listen to my "regular" music again! What is wrong with me this year? I hate feeling this way, but no amount of trying and striving and faking it has helped me.

Anyways, here are some photos from the season:

Look who is here!

Indonesia, Paraguay, and Apple Valley

Have you clicked on that little map on the sidebar? That map shows where people who read my blog are from. It’s so great having cousins in far-off lands, a cousin in Paraguay (Hi Roger!), another cousin in Paraguay (Hi Karen!), and whenever I see Apple Valley, I just feel all warm inside: that’s my dad out in California. Some of them baffle me:  who are YOU, London, England? Washington DC? Utah? I wonder how people get here and why they decide to stay. I always love comments, so if you’ve been lurking, feel free to say hello. You will make my day!

My grapevine garland

I worked hard to get this! Heidi and I went tramping in the woods of some of her friends, and we pulled this stuff out of the trees. Most of it did NOT want to come down. And it’s been sitting on my porch for a week, waiting for me to work up the courage to attempt The Garland. I’ve only been talking about putting up grapevine garland on my porch since moving in five years ago. Yeah. FIVE years ago.

How does it look? I think it needs something. We do not have any outlets on the porch, unfortunately, so no lights yet. I’m trying to talk The Man into installing some for me, since he’s all about wiring lately.

It should look more festive in a day or two, once we get the snow that they’re forecasting. I hope we get the snow. It’s so dreary with all the mud and rain.

Peace on Earth?

You know that church in Colorado Springs where that shooting was yesterday? That is where Chad’s brother and his family worship. Kirk had left only about 20 minutes before the shooting.  Sometimes it’s the world is just TOO small. Our prayers are with the families and friends of the victims.

Conversation with 4-year-old Emma

Emma: Do we live on a planet?

me: Yep, we live on the planet earth.

Emma: And it’s in space?

me: Yes, our planet is in space.

Emma: Why is our planet in space?

me: (thinking) well, that’s just where God put it!

Emma: Who is God?

me: Um, well, He’s, um, He’s. . .well He made everything, and he’s kind of in charge of everything.

Emma: What is His name?

Me: He has names, but you can just call him God.

Emma: Oh,Ok.

Me: Yeah, you know Jesus?

Emma: The BABY??

Me: Yeah, the baby at Christmas. Well he is God’s son.

Emma: But why is he a baby?

Me: That’s just how people start out.

Emma: Oh, ok.

Author’s note: I found it horrifying to be asked the question "Who is God," by a sweet and impressionable 4-year-old child who has no concept of the idea. What on earth do you say? How do you answer in a way that makes sense to her? Hopefully, it is a conversation that we will continue someday. There is much, much more to that story, Emma!
