Sale-a-Bration: Birthday Whimsy

Every year, I await SU’s promotion, Sale-a-Bration, with great anticipation. For every $50 in product ordered, you can pick a special set out of the SAB mini catalog. As a demonstrator, I can pre-order the sets, and when I saw this one, I fell in love.

Boyish Bitty Birthday

I have trouble coming up with cards for men and boys. I just have a lot of flower stamps, and they don’t really cut it for the masculine among us. I try to make up for this by using non-girly colors. (that means no pink!) I love this card using Bitty Birthday and the fabulous classic stars jumbo wheel:

Buttercream Birthday

I borrowed these colors from the new Spring Fling designer paper. On these cards, I think it looks like icing, so I’m calling this series of cards the "Buttercream Birthday" series. The stamp set is a new set called "Bitty Birthday," $12.95. I’m having way too much fun with this set!

There is a third one, but somehow it escaped the photo shoot! I’ll post it later.

A Happiness List

  • Playing in the snow last night with the kids. We stayed out until it was dark, until Kristen came home. It was the perfect evening for it! Lightly snowing, cold enough, but not windy, a blue-snow twilight. . .
  • Getting a huge order from Stampin’ Up! yesterday! I’ve been playing today:

_dsc6012

  • banana crumb muffins and really good pasta
  • good sleep for several nights in a row!
  • The rest of the day is mine to stamp, read, cozy up by the fire, and make messes in my kitchen. The BEST kind of day!
  • The sun is actually shining right now. Amazing what a difference it makes. . .

What is on your happiness list today?

Chipboard Welcome Frame

Every month, Stampin Up holds several contests for its demonstrators, and they give stamp sets as prizes! I’ve never entered any of these contests, which is kind of dumb, since I like stamp sets! This year I’ve resolved to enter at least one contest each month, just to see what happens. One of the categories this month is any project using the large frame from the Ginormous Pieces chipboard pack. This is what I came up with. Last night, after I finished it, I wasn’t sure whether it was cute or just weird. This morning, I like it. It’s cute. I used chipboard from Ginormous Pieces, Ginger Blossoms designer paper, the 5-petal flower punch, and the ABC lowers alphabet.

Still here!

Ok, Ok. I know! I’ve been a very bad blogger lately. I’ve just felt rather quiet and not inclined to say much (quick! someone take a picture! I’m not inclined to say much!) But I did do a photoshoot today for Mike. He was Very Brave and stood out in the cold, raw weather to have his senior portraits done. He was pleasant, laidback, handsome, and NOT at ALL as unphotogenic as his younger sister tried to lead me to believe.

I’m sure I have some better ones, but my eyes starting bugging me before I got to them. I’ll edit some more later. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy doing senior pictures? It’s a fun age–all this beautiful, hopeful youth. Easier to work with than toddlers, not as much crying as babies, not as self-conscious as older adults. It’s energizing for me.

Anyways, it’s snowing here now. No more cycling or outdoor shoots for a while. . .

Stamp Camp. . .in Your Mailbox?

YES!!

Imagine opening up a package with FOUR stamping projects inside! All the cardstock cut and ready to go! All the ribbons, brads, eyelets, buttons, and Designer Paper you need to complete these beautiful cards are also inside. You find detailed instructions, plus you receive an email with photos of each project.

How to get started:

Order the featured stamp set. These will change every two months. You will also need to order the ink colors I have selected for the two month period. I have tried to overlap these as much as possible while still having variety.

Featured Stamp Sets:

January/February:  A Little Birdie Told Me, $25.95

March/April:  Fun & Fast Notes, $30.95

May/June: Always, $25.95

Featured Colors:

January/February: Rose Red; Certainly Celery; So Saffron; Bashful Blue.

March/April: Wild Wasabi; Brilliant Blue; Bashful Blue; Pumpkin Pie

May/June: Pretty in Pink; So Saffron; Certainly Celery; Bashful Blue

At the end of the first month, I will mail you the stamp set and the materials for your first four projects. You will receive four more projects by the end of the second month.

Cost: $20.00 per month ($40 for the two month period; Pre-payment is required). This covers the project materials, but NOT the stamp set or ink colors. If you don’t have the featured set or the colors, you will need to place an order for those separately. You will also need basic stamping supplies such as a black ink pad, adhesive, scissors, watercolor brushes or Aquapainters, and sponges.

Additionally, I will be offering this service for these other stamp sets that you may already own:

Pick a Petal (109445; $27.95)

Colors:  Real Red; Pumpkin Pie; Tempting Turquoise; Bashful Blue; Wild Wasabi; Regal Rose

60 degrees + free afternoon = BIKE RIDE

Today was a gift from God–a little bit of spring in the midst of January! I wore my long-sleeved jersey and my long tights, and I was TOO warm! In January! I loved it though. I am rather ashamed to admit that I haven’t been on my bike since July. That double century really took it out of me, and I was too burned out to even think about it for months. When cycling finally started to sound fun again, it was snowing. But today, I took advantage of the capricious weather and hit the road. I didn’t go very far, only about an hour’s worth. I am not in the shape I was in, but I still did pretty well. I was worried that I would be tired and sore and miserable the whole time, but I wasn’t. I don’t think I have breathed as much in the past six months as I did today. Hopefully, this winter will have some more brights spots like today, or I can just buck up and face the cold weather on my bike. It is so worth it.

How did YOU enjoy this beautiful day?

Toasting good friends, eating fabulous food

We were invited to a dinner party at John & Jill’s last night, along with most of our closest friends. Jill made the most beautiful, wonderful, fattening pasta dish I have ever eaten. I fell fathoms deep in love with it, and I even asked Jill to marry me. Our husbands were a bit worried. Of course, they have wives! We only have husbands. I think a wife would be a very useful person to have around.

Anyways. It was a lovely evening–friends, food, champagne, and bowling on the wii.
