Heidi, Jordan and I started a new Halloween tradition a few years ago: I go over there for the afternoon one day in late fall, she makes chili, I bring Meet Me in St. Louis, and we basically eat and goof off all afternoon.
MMiSL has some of the BEST Halloween scenes ever! You must watch this movie! And if you miss it for Halloween, you can watch it for Christmas, because it has some good yuletide stuff happening too.
Tootie as the Most Horrible Ghost and Agnes as a Drunken Ghost.
After our movie, we decided to make caramel apples. Meanwhile, Jordan hunted out his old, old cassette tape of Halloween songs my mom made for him years ago. We danced around the kitchen very happily to "Monster Mash" and "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes."
Fun with Halloween song props. (AKA: the Killer Tomato)
I have some hilarious video of us dancing, but I'm not posting. Since most of it is of me flailing and hopping around the kitchen. Chad thinks it's hysterical. I'm not that brave.
This next one is kind of spooky: look at Heidi wielding that knife like that!
Mmmm, caramel apple!
This is a very good tradition, and I encourage you to add it to your own holiday celebrations. Especially the dancing in the kitchen and the making of song props. And the movie. And the chili is good too.

That DOES sound like fun!
I’ve never seen MMiSL (can you believe it?) I’m going to see if the library has a copy.
I love the apple slice falling from the knife stop action picture.
I love the “Killer Tomato” shots! They are so cute- You, me and Jordan – we make a good team!
Be brave — post the dancing video! 🙂
The pic of Jordan and the pic of the HUGE knife with a kind of small apple are my favorites.
I like the phrase “wielding the knife”- so I used it in my post today!
