She’s Not as Tough as She Thinks She Is

Yesterday’s ride was hard. It was cold, way colder than I expected, and I was shivering for much of the ride. It was also drizzly, and the roads were wet, so the bike in front of me sent up a constant stream of road scum. And then, after 55 miles, with only 5 more to go, I decided that my wrist, which has suffered from arthritis and carpal tunnel in the past, hurt too much to continue on. I was having trouble braking and shifting with my left hand, both of which are rather important operations. So I was SAGged back to my car. But parts of the ride were very fun–I loved the people I was with–I’m telling you, I could NOT do these rides by myself! It is so encouraging to have company. And we stopped at Starbucks twice. Not for coffee, but for the bathrooms. Ahhhh. . . beats the bushes I had to use last week!  🙂
